Brief History
In 1990, soon after the economic system had been changed and it became possible, a group of twelve software engineers already working abroad decided to found their own company for IT man-power-leasing. This is how Gamax Kft. was founded in May 1990, based on some contracts and acquaintances these people already had in this field. The leader of the company, Dr. Géza Homonnay has already had experiences in managing this type of activity.
During the years 1992 and 1993 the activity of the company became diversified. Although the main activity remained IT man-power-leasing, we began a hardware-software distribution activity in Hungary as well. This proved to be a good idea, and evolved itself into an own subsidiary, called Gamaxnet Kft., founded in 1993, concentrating mainly on data communications infrastructures and wide-area networks.
The year 1993 produced another big breakthrough; we established a strategic partnership with Microsoft by doing software localisation for them. In 1994 we were one of the four Eastern European companies to receive the prestigious „Microsoft Strategic Localization Partner" Award. Our partners include several multinational giants, such as Digital, HP, IBM, Lexmark, Lotus, Motorola, Nokia, Oracle, Xerox, etc. and many smaller companies. Today we are performing software localisation work into more than 10 other Central European languages besides Hungarian.
Quickly recognizing the enormous potential in the Internet arena, we created our Internet division in 1997. We started with web design and development and then gradually built a complex design-development-graphics team, which is capable of accomplishing great results in a wide range of Internet-based software development projects. This unit also became a separate business called Instantweb Kft. in 2002.
In 1998 we moved in our new, central location into a newly renovated beautiful building just steps away from the exclusive Gellért Hotel. From the twelve original owners six had parted from the company.
We are participating at smaller and bigger sized informatics projects both as main contractor and as subcontractor, which we accomplish sometimes with full project management, sometimes only with the delivery of manpower. Among our partners are to be found the majority of the important Hungarian companies and multinational companies present in Hungary as well.
